Frittmann Generosa was the best white wine at the National Wine Competition

Our winery achieved an amazing result at the most traditional Hungarian wine competition. The 2022 Frittmann Generosa was the only white wine to win the Grand Gold Medal, making it the best white wine of the competition.

This year a total of 5 Grand Gold Medals, 128 Gold Medals, 151 Silver Medals and 11 Special Mentions were awarded in various categories. 252 wineries from all 22 wine regions of the country entered with 918 entries. The unique feature of the National Wine Competition is that it is based on a three-tier selection system. The wine competitions held in the wine-growing districts and wine regions prior to the competition play a major role in the preliminary classification of the lots entered. This uniqueness is enhanced by the fact that the event is also a professional meeting for both the judging and the announcement of the results.

In his welcome speech, Máté Varga, Vice President of the National Council of Regional Wine Estates responsible for interprofessional affairs, said that the announcement of the results of one of the most important competitions in the country is a testament of the progress in quality that the Hungarian wine sector has made in recent decades.

As in previous years, the organising committee considered it important that the judging panels included wine experts, educators, researchers, journalists and representatives from the restaurant and trade sectors, both experienced and young. As a result, the professional development of the event has continued unabated, and the values developed here are recognised and considered authoritative by wine growers.
