Frittmann wines win gold medals at Vinagora

VinAgora is the only internationally accredited wine competition in Hungary. Our 2022 Generosa and our 2020 Grál Grand Selection both received gold medals from the international and Hungarian judges.

Judging was based on the 100-point positive scoring system recommended by the Federation of Major International Wine Competitions (VinoFed). The winning wines in the VinAgora competition were selected on the basis of the judgement of renowned national and international wine producers and experts, grouped into ten panels of 6-7 judges each.

Domestic wines achieved outstanding results this year. They won a number of medals and special awards, proving that domestic winemakers work to high standards and are internationally competitive. They won 72% of all gold medals and twice as many grand prizes as foreigners.

This year, a total of 916 samples were entered, representing 15 wine producing countries. The setting of the medal score boundaries meant that 15 Grand Prix, 156 Gold and 110 Silver medals, 6 Champion winners in the main categories and 30 special prizes were awarded.

Generosa 2022: Generosa is considered a local grape variety as it is a crossing between Ezerjó and Red Traminer developed by the Kecskemét and Mór Research Institutes. Barely a generation has passed since its birth, so it was our task to discover its needs and how to highlight its best qualities, its light, fruity character.

Grál Grand Selection 2020: it has been a long-standing plan of ours to make an aged, great white wine that can sit at the top of the product pyramid. We have never fermented a white wine in barrels before, but this was the right occasion to do so. We have also given the lees a more important role than with any other of our still wines. The Grál is based on Chardonnay blended with Ezerjó and Generosa to give it some local identity. Grál 2020 is an extremely limited release.
